[STR] Bushido

BlackSmith

Bushido Racing came to life in 1985 as a "what if" session between the owner of a custom frame and retail bikeshop, and an individual involved with high performance motorsports. After a period of design, engineering, and some serious barbecue - the first Bushido Racer was constructed.

Those first prototypes lead to many innovations in bicycle suspension design. The eighth Bushido Racer was displayed to the public during 1986 Interbike show in Long Beach, California - it was a full year before the many copies began popping up (and disappearing just as quickly...). The initial response was overwhelming.
People were being tugged down the aisles to see "it". Many international manufacturers representatives in attendance simply walked away shaking their heads. Twelve years later most of those same head shakers are finally producing limited and low value versions of suspended bicycles that may eventually be comparable to the designs initiated over a decade ago by Bushido Racing.

Here's a well documented list of Bushido developments. Many of these "inventions" have been patented by both major manufactures and individuals several years after we were delivering 'em. To date we have not received any Lawyer letters demanding that we cease our production. Anything look familiar here?

• Dual triple clamps
• Inverted forks
• Adjustable steering geometry
• Pneumatic fork springs
• Adjustable multi-speed damping
• Anti-squat front braking
• Oversized axles
• Wide hub flanges
• Hydraulic disc brakes
• Lightweight Mechanical disc brakes
• Carbon fiber disc brake rotors
• Light weight disc brake retro-fit kits
• Suspended seat post
• Adjustable seat geometry
• Fully active long travel rear suspension
• Monocoque swingarm
• Progressive damper linkage
• High pressure gas shock
• Handlebar mounted damper controls
• Hydraulic shock lock-out
• Pro-squat rear braking
• Sealed needle bearing pivots

These oft-copied innovations are just a tease of what the Series Seven Racer holds for the few who will be able to own a Bushido Racing Bicycle. For further information please use the E-Mail clicker on any page.
